Informed Consent and shared decision making has always been of vital importance to all healthcare practitioners but the case of Montgomery v Lanarkshire Health Board (2015) put clinicians’ practice of consenting patients back in to the spotlight; doctors can no longer rely on the Bolam test when deciding what information to give patients.
